innovations Good Wood San Francisco’s Big Pagoda recently joined the sustainability train with its new line of green furniture, BP Green. The BP Green credenza, the ﬁrst in the soon-to-expand collection, is as eco-friendly as they come. Fabricated from palm wood, a nontoxic board product composed of agricultural byproducts that come from farmed plantations of old coconut palms, BP Green credenza applies a strategic re-use of the wood. The cabinets and tops are PVC-free and the wood ﬁnishes are made from natural oils. The interior cabinet materials are formaldehyde-free and made from recycled wood ﬁber as well. Launched in June 2007, the BP Green collection is an effort to create green products that are aesthetically pleasing, yet do not smack of environmental overstatement. Available in custom sizes and ﬁnishes, the BP Green credenza offers various amounts of storage space, all in a well-designed package. [For more information, visit www.bigpagoda.com.] Fresh Universal Appeal The Solid collection from Spain’s Estoli is a support system for bathrooms that maintains “good design.” Solid unites aesthetics and security, combining perfectly well with today’s bathroom styles. A stool, folding shower seat or a bathtub seat can be created with Solid’s one seat. Back support or armrests can also be added for increased security. A grab-bar system and corresponding accessories are also part of the collection. Estoli, headquarted in Barcelona, Spain, operates under the growth strategy of combining technological excellence with a strong commitment to design. Designed by Mario Ruiz, Solid is the ﬁrst collection of the Estoli Safe Living concept. [For more information, visit www.estoli.com.] Seamless Display Options Designed by Alexis Tricoire for Belgium’s VANGE Design, the Maui collection includes shelf units, sideboards and a low table—all with a minimalist aesthetic. The translucent acrylic material adds a certain magic to Maui components, as light pierces through in various intensities. Available in white, blue, black, pink or orange (not all colors are available for every piece), Maui ﬁts virtually any interior environment, including libraries, bars, health centers, bathrooms, living rooms and galleries. The newest addition to Maui is a standalone bookshelf. Pictured is the large bookshelf. Founded in 1987 by Michael Van Genechten, VANGE operates under the philosophy that the industrial production of furniture allows but a small place for creativity and experimentation.
