grassroots ASID Participates in the NCSL Annual Meeting and Exhibition ASID Government and Public Affairs staff members, together with IIDA staff and volunteers from the Massachusetts Interior Design Coalition (MIDC), recently hosted a booth at the National Conference of State Legislatures Annual Meeting in Boston. Approximately 3,800 state legislators and legislative staff members attended the conference for educational seminars and an opportunity to learn about the issues they face every day in the legislature. The NCSL annual meeting and exhibition, which brings together thousands of legislators and their staffs, is the premier gathering of the nation’s state government leaders. For the eighth year in a row, ASID staff and volunteers were able to connect with hundreds of legislators and their staff to discuss interior designers’ impact on the health, safety and welfare of the public and the importance of legal recognition of the interior design profession. ASID also showcased the video “Interior Design: More Than Meets the Eye,” which highlights how every decision that an interior designer makes affects the health, safety and welfare of their clients. ASID would like to thank the volunteers from MIDC for their assistance with managing the booth and talking with legislators and legislative staff. International Code Council (ICC) www.iccsafe.org The ICC was established in 1994 as a nonproﬁt organization dedicated to developing a single set of comprehensive and coordinated national codes. The ICC Web site contains news and information about developments related to the International Codes. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) www.nfpa.org Established in 1896, NFPA serves as the world’s leading advocate of ﬁre prevention and is an authoritative source on public safety. NFPA’s 300 codes and standards inﬂuence every building, process, service, design and installation in the United States, as well as many of those used in other countries. NFPA’s Web site includes fact sheets on ﬁre and safety issues as well as reports and information on ﬁres of high technical or educational interest.
