In support of construction industry firms and workers in the Chicagoland area, the Association: • Helped create the AGC of America in 1918 • Sponsored some of the first national construction safety contests in the 1920’s • Joined with the Carpenters and Laborers Unions to fund Chicago’s first joint pension trust funds in the 1950’s • Supported diversity in construction by partnering with community groups to create the Construction Career Opportunity Program in 2005 The Builders Association offers contractors, owners and designers access to resources that can help them solve problems and make better decisions about labor, safety, training, government relations, communications and more. While less than 40 percent of our revenue comes from membership dues, close to 90 percent of our budget goes toward member programs and services.
