PEOPLE & PLACES International Academy of Hair Design Student Wins Competition Michael Ladd, a fulltime, night student at International Academy of Hair Design proved he is one talented lad when he captured first place for his bridal updo entry at the Educational Forum’s Student Hair Competition in Fort Worth, Texas. The contestants in the bridal updo category were encouraged to pull out the stops on their themed entry to create a hair and makeup idea on a mannequin that would wow the judges, spectators and fellow students. Each entry was judged based on creativity, originality, innovation, color and theme. “Michael is a talented, hard-working student who takes his education very seriously,” said Alicia Sheren, director of International Academy of Hair Design in Metro Center Mall. “It was the fi rst year we were able to send students to the Educational Forum in Texas, and we couldn’t be more proud of the awardwinning result.” Capri College’s Culture of Giving—During the Holidays and Throughout the Year Capri College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has always been recognized for its involvement in the community. They established a name for our culture of giving, “Capri Cares.” Charles Fiegen, owner of Capri College, has been given several awards for his involvement and charity, and the college was recognized in the 2011 Modern Salon Excellence in Education for its community involvement. Currently all three Capri schools are working hard partnering with The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation. Each location is hosting bake sales, dress down/dress up days, chili cook-offs and much more to raise money on top of collecting boxes of toys. Every year Capri hosts a family in their community for Christmas, purchasing gifts for the entire family as well as providing a holiday meal with all the fixins! Capri College is proud of its presence in the community and continues to find innovative ways to give back to their community regardless of the season. Bellus Academy Artistic Director Diego Raviglione and Creative Director for Wella Professional Fabio Sementilli showcased fresh new trends and designs to Bellus Academy students. Bellus Academy Runway Event The Bellus Academy event on Nov. 5 showcased fresh new trends and designs by top stylists. Bellus Academy featured their very own artistic director and Wella Top Stylist Diego Raviglione with special guest Fabio Sementilli, creative director for Wella Professional.
