Leo Passage, Buddy was the driving force in developing and strengthening relationships with existing and prospective member schools. He held ofﬁces in the State Hair Fashion Committee as chairman and styles director, was a member of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS), and the National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association (NHCA). He won numerous hairdressing trophies as well as the California Challenge Trophy. In 2008, AACS presented him with the Pioneer Award in recognition of his lifetime of membership, dedication and achievements.

Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology Hold Sixth Annual “Cuts for Cancer” Event
Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology is proud to announce that its sixth annual “Cuts for Cancer” event was a huge success! The event raised $1,365 through the generous contributions of community members, rafﬂes and patrons who paid $5 to receive a variety of services from Kenneth Children’s Chance mascot, Zig the Pig, stands beneath Shuler staff and the Kenneth Shuler sign and students includencourages passers-by to ing haircuts, bang come in for $5 services trims, neck tapes, mini manicures, mini pedicures, waxings and beard mustache trims. Kenneth Shuler graciously agreed to match the totals so that a grand donation of $2,731.20 will be given to Children’s Chance. Children’s Chance is the only South Carolina non-proﬁt organization dedicated to providing non-medical support (such as ﬁnancial, emotional and psychological aid) to children facing cancer and their families.

More than 100 teens and tweens received “Clean Start” lessons on skin care from Dermalogica-trained skin therapists at My Beauty Camp’s ﬁrst annual Mother & Daughter Soiree held at Royal/T in Culver City, California. Ticket sales from the special event beneﬁtted My Beauty Project, a non-proﬁt dedicated to supporting workshops designed for at-risk teen girls.

Sunstate Academy sent twelve competitors to the Premiere Orlando Show this year to compete in the Fantasy, Trend Cut & Color and Bridal student international student competitions. These students committed many hours and hard work outside of

Educators and staff from the Xenon International Academy joined ﬁve other Xenon International Academies at the MidAmerica Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to participate among 552 hair stylists cutting 552 heads of hair, setting the Guinness World Record’s mark for “Most People Cutting Hair.” The record fell as part of the “World’s Largest Hands-On Workshop,” being put on by Peel’s Salon Service as part of its annual spring trade show. The previous record was 250 stylists and 250 heads. The event ﬁlled the arena of the convention center, with featured stylist Phillip Wilson, international creative director of FHI Heat, cutting a model’s hair on center stage. Rules stipulated that the cutting last 15 minutes. When the clock hit zero a roar went up from spectators in the crowd and the 1,104 record-setters.
