WE’RE BUILDING MOMENTUM

While momentum continues to build following the launch of Beauty Changes LivesSM, one thing remains constant: A relentless focus on positioning careers in the beauty and wellness industry as premier careers of choice. Beauty Changes Lives, an AACS initiative, was inspired by member school feedback. Overwhelmingly, schools expressed a desire for the public to better understand the rewards and opportunities available to beauty school graduates. Beauty Changes Lives was created to do just that – educate people about the career opportunities available to those who choose beauty. The AACS board and the BeautyLink editorial team are committed to keeping members updated about the progress of Beauty Changes Lives. Following is
an update of what has been happening with Beauty Changes Lives since it made its debut earlier this year.
Promotional support for member schools
Member involvement is an important component of Beauty Changes Lives. In August, AACS sponsored a Webinar to introduce schools to Beauty Changes Lives and provide opportunities for them to implement brand awareness in their school. About 140 schools signed up for the Webinar, which is still available for download at www.beautyschools.org. The Webinar provided an opportunity for member schools to purchase affordable yet customizable Beauty Changes Lives marketing materials. These materials are still available for purchase from AACS. Schools may select from a menu of promotional items including: • Customized videos • Buttons • Door/mirror clings • Poster displays • A free sell sheet “These promotional materials help boost students’ enthusiasm for beauty careers, but they also share an important message with customers in our student salons,” said Lynelle Lynch, AACS board member and PR chairwoman. She noted that a free “sell sheet” is available for schools to use at recruiting events, job fairs and other places where they interact with the public.
Beauty Changes Lives spokesperson, Ted Gibson, has also been busy telling the world about careers in beauty. The launch of Beauty Changes Lives was featured on beauty blogs and websites such as AOL Style List and Daily Makeover, providing opportunities for serious beauty fans to learn about the Beauty Changes Lives initiative. Ted also talked about his role as Beauty Changes Lives spokesperson on New York’s leading evening news program. In September, Ted and AACS met with beauty editors from some of the leading women, teen and entertainment magazines including: Ladies Home Journal,
