A key part of the effort was “The Biggest Haircut Day of the Year” on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11, when the company donated a dollar from every haircut service to the program.

Eydie Foltz Honored for Lifetime Achievements
Bellus Academy celebrated one of the most elite names in its educational history as educator Eydie Foltz was honored for her lifetime of achievements. Foltz was presented with a certiﬁcate of recognition for her 45 years of dedication to beauty and wellness education from the Governor’s Office followed by a Lifetime Achievement ceremony on August 20, at Bellus Academy in Manhattan, Kansas. “Eydie has been an instrumental professional with Bellus and her passion for the industry has ignited inspiration and ambition in our students for nearly half of a century,” said Lynelle Lynch, president of Bellus Academy.
Intercoiffure Honors Vivienne Mackinder with Leo Passage Educator of the Year Award
Intercoiffure America/Canada recently recognized the educational contributions of Leo Passage, late founder of Pivot Point International, Inc., with the presentation of the second Leo Passage Educator of the Year Award to Master Stylist and founder of HairDesignerTV.com, Vivienne Mackinder. Intercoiffure President Lois Christie presented the award to Mackinder, who graciously accepted the honor with a simple thank you.
Cosmetologists Chicago Elects Board of Directors
Cosmetologists Chicago installed its new board of directors and officers at the 2012 Annual Business Meeting October 22. These volunteering salon professionals develop and guide the association’s services to its 7,000 members in continuing education, legislative representation, technology, social networking, scholarships and networking. The board’s single most important responsibility is oversight of all facets of America’s Beauty Show. The 2013 Show will be held March 9-11 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
Pivot Point International Appoints Melanie Koroyan-Kopeikin as President
Robert Passage, chairman and CEO of Pivot Point International, Inc., announced the appointment of Melanie Koroyan-Kopeikin as president of the company, effective October 15, 2012. “After a thorough search,” said Passage, “we’ve found someone who will be an incredible asset and a welcomed addition to the global Pivot Point family.”

Fashion Night Out with Tricoci University
Students at Tricoci University of Beauty Culture’s newest campus in Indianapolis joined forces with the fashion community for the fourth annual Fashion Night Out event. The event was held in more than 500 cities around the world and showcased the creativity, style and design savvy of both emerging and experienced fashion and beauty professionals. Tricoci students provided arm, wrist and hand massages and treated guests to polish changes as well as fresh fall makeup looks. “Fashion Night Out provided a great opportunity for students to experience how the beauty and fashion communities work together,” said Abby Lindquist, Tricoci’s Indianapolis campus manager.
Stewart School Fashionista Miracles for Children’s Miracle Network
On October 6, Stewart School in Sioux Falls, S.D., held “Fashionista Miracles,” a fundraising event to beneﬁ t Children’s Miracle Network and Sanford Children’s Hospital. This event was the culmination of six weeks of fundraising efforts by staff and students. Students were responsible for the great success of the event; besides selling tickets and raising money through wearing jeans, they helped plan the choreography, served as hosts at the event, and did models’ hair and makeup. The school presented a check for $10,000 to Children’s Miracle Network.
Sport Clips Haircuts Help Heroes Call Home Campaign Launched
Beginning Oct. 15, more than 950 Sport Clips Haircuts locations launched the company’s annual “Help A Hero” fundraising campaign to support the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW) Operation Uplink™ in their communities. Sport Clips’ goal was to raise $500,000 in its sixth year of donating to Operation Uplink, a program that offers free call days to
