CMSA’s Annual Conference & Expo in San Francisco sets the stage for a new year of advancement, collaboration, and outcomes in the case management profession At CMSA’s 22nd Annual Conference & Expo, June 19-22, 2012, CMSA installed its 2012-2013 Board of Directors. CMSA’s new President is Nancy Skinner, RN-BC, CCM, from Whitwell, Tenn., who succeeds Mary Beth Newman, MSN, RN-BC, CCP, CCM. A true case management pioneer, Nancy was involved in the early formation of the Illinois Case Management Network (now CMSA Chicago). She has worked tirelessly to promote case management over the past 20 years, and has presented educational programs to countless CMSA chapters and other groups across the country. Her leadership has continued on the national level, having served in the CMSA President role previously from 1998-1999. Nancy is the ﬁrst CMSA President to serve a second term, and also the ﬁrst to serve a consecutive two-year term in the same role from 2012-2014. Nancy began her career as a nurse working in acute care, long-term care and home health. A major milestone in her career, she developed the CM Resource Path Concept in the late ’90s, a model for disease state education designed speciﬁcally for case managers. She is currently the Principal Consultant and Owner of Riverside HealthCare Consulting in Whitwell, Tenn. Practice Improvement & Research Award Recipients
The Awards for Case Management Practice Improvement and Case Management Research recognize an individual, group or organization that uses ﬁndings from a research or quality/ performance improvement (QI/PI) project for innovation in the advancement of case management practice and/or improved client outcomes. This year’s award recipients are: • Case Management Practice Improvement Award: VA Connecticut Health System, accepted by Donna Vogel, MSN, CCM for CM and a Web-based Tracking System for Cancer Care Improved Access & Quality Care • Case Management Research Award: Hudson Health Plan, accepted by Margaret Leonard, MS, RN-BC, FNP for Operation: We Care (Westchester Cares Action Program)

At CMSA’s 22nd Annual Conference & Expo in San Francisco, Calif., the professional Association presented its national awards to both individual and chapter recipients. The 22nd Anniversary Awards Event was held June 21, 2012 at Moscone West Convention Center.

Garry is founder of Schooner Healthcare Services and currently serves as the President and CEO of RadSite. • CMSA’s Case Manager of the Year Award recipient is Laura Ostrowsky, RN, MUP, CCM of Pelham, N.Y., Director of Case Management for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. • The recipient of the 2012 Award of Service Excellence is Barbara Mackey-Zeigler, RN, BSN, CCM of Mason, Ohio, a Case Manager at WellPoint/Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
