The project team reduced the total schedule by six weeks by converting a portion of the Tower’s intended foundation system from pile cap and grade beam to a mat foundation system. Rusty Hirst, Turner’s general manager, commented, “When a project this complicated is completed with such good results, it is a sure indication of teamwork. All of the partners in this project, St Francis Hospital, TRO and its co-designers, The City of Hartford Building Department & Fire Marshal’s Office, Turner, and its subcontractors dealt with one another in a cooperative and respectful manner.” The project team is proud to have helped Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center achieve their goal of serving their community by completing the work on time, on budget, and providing smooth departmental moves throughout the work.
