A Truly Global Organization
June 26-28. This year, the show moves from Monte Carlo to Stockholm, Sweden, which, by all accounts, will be a wonderful backdrop to ERA Europe’s comprehensive lineup of rich education and prime networking opportunities. In late summer, ERA returns to the Wynn Las Vegas for the 2011 D2C Convention September 13-15. This must-attend event is a chance for companies – both foreign and domestic – to gather, share industry insight and collaborate on ways they can expand into other markets. D2C is also the ideal place to meet and get to know members of ERA’s international councils and committees – including the Asia Committee, Canadian Council and U.S. Hispanic Council – which are comprised of some of the industry’s leading experts in their respective global markets.

Since its inception in 1991, the Electronic Retailing Association (ERA) has prided itself on its ability to unify domestic and international members of the direct-to-consumer marketing industry by not only providing them with the right settings and venues, but also by arming them with the necessary tools and platforms for achieving their business objectives. Through its conferences and networking events hosted throughout the year, ERA continues to offer members and industry thought leaders a fundamental component to cultivating any business: synergy. That synergy was quite apparent this past March at The Great Ideas Summit 2011 in New Orleans, where attendees from around the globe converged to exchange ideas and forge meaningful partnerships. In fact, international attendees accounted for more than 27 percent of this year’s total attendance. We were thrilled to receive favorable reviews from those who participated at the show. Some even noted that this mid-Winter event served as the ideal environment to conduct important meetings without the unwanted distractions one might expect at most conferences. While The Great Ideas Summit gives our international members ample reason to visit the U.S., our ERA staff is preparing to travel abroad to host a number of international events, beginning with our networking reception in Hong Kong on April 25. The event will take place in conjunction with the Hong Kong Houseware Fair. After spending a long day on the show floor, I do hope you will join us for a relaxing evening at the Kowloon Club for cocktails and good conversation. On May 26, ERA staffers will join our neighbors to the north to host the third annual networking reception in Toronto. Last year’s event was a phenomenal success. We saw familiar faces and welcomed new ones to our thriving organization. Much of the credit goes to the efforts of our very active Canadian membership and Canadian Council. The Electronic Retailing Association is truly a global association, which is reflected in our strong affiliate in Europe. In June, ERA Europe presents the 2011 Electronic HomeShopping Conference

Synergy was quite apparent this past March at The Great Ideas Summit 2011 in New Orleans, where attendees from around the globe converged to exchange ideas and forge meaningful partnerships.
As you can see, ERA believes in bringing together the global community that makes up this exciting and constantly evolving industry. Our goal is to provide you with the value-added benefits that will give you a stronger foothold in the marketplace, and will allow you to achieve greater success long into the future. Lastly, I want to acknowledge the devastating earthquake in Japan that occurred last month. Like many of you, we watched the events as they unfolded on television and were deeply shocked and saddened. Our thoughts and prayers go out to ERA members in Japan, as well as those individuals and their loved ones who were directly affected by this catastrophic tragedy.
