BILD BBQ raises $24,000 for Habitat for Humanity Toronto THE 17TH ANNUAL BILD Charity BBQ held in July attracted a crowd of more than 300 members who partook in the food and refreshments while bidding-up some great silent auction items and generously supporting the various raffles, collectively raising more than $24,000 in support of our community partnership with Habitat for Humanity Toronto. The only formality on the evening was the very special moment when BILD had the honour of presenting the keys to our fifth Habitat home to the Abdi family along with a truly “housewarming” ovation from the audience. There is always something special about turning over the keys but when it’s to a family that thought they might never enjoy the dream of homeownership, it reaches a whole different level. BILD sincerely thanks all the event sponsors, silent auction prize donors and other supporters, including Rodney Daw for photography, the food purveyors (, Coppi Ristorante, Kosher BBQ by The Sacks Partnership), the beverage folks (Lifford Wine, Sleeman Breweries, Homespring water by Forefront Initiatives) and last but not least, the hard-working BBQ Committee members. Special thanks to Howard Colton of The Sacks Partnership who generously donated his share of the 50/50 draw proceeds to Habitat for Humanity Toronto. All event proceeds went to Habitat for Humanity Toronto, an organization dedicated to ensuring decent, affordable, ownership housing for the working poor.
