Jetrader - January/February 2009 - (Page 19) ISTAT foundation Stephen Rimmer, Chairman ISTAT Foundation As I write this, we are all looking at a negative macroeconomic environment that I don’t believe any of us had predicted in terms of its breadth and severity. As we look at other market sectors, we can take comfort that the aviation sector has to date been relatively unscathed, but I fear that will not be the case for long, and our aviation sector will soon be in the eye of the storm. It is at times like these that we all have to tighten our belts and look at every aspect of our revenue and expenditures. It’s also at times like these that those who look to and depend on organizations like the ISTAT Foundation are in the greatest need of continued support and the liquidity that we bring. While fully recognizing that we all have to do what is needed to take care of our own personal and business needs, I would kindly ask for your continued consideration of donations to your ISTAT Foundation so that we can continue with the good works and programs that are planned or in progress. We are fast approaching the ISTAT 26th Annual Conference in Arizona, and while this has been and will continue to be a focus of our fundraising, we of course welcome donations and support year-round. Please give some thought to ways that we may all be able to maximize the impact of the donations that we may be able to make especially to employermatching contributions. As I have written in past notes, the Foundation Board of Trustees has been deliberating the most effective approach to establishing a humanitarian program that would encompass the ISTAT brand but also effectively put to work the Foundation’s dollars and the members’ resources to make a significant impact in the world at large. I am pleased to report that the Foundation has reached agreement with Uplift International, represented by Mark Schlansky (a former McDonnell Douglas executive), who have extensive experience in the humanitarian relief world and have been active participants in using aviation assets in support of humanitarian efforts. The mandate to Uplift is at this stage limited to a consultancy agreement under which they will during a two month period. At that time they will review the opportunities and advise where the Founda- tion’s resources may be most effectively and efficiently deployed in order to make the largest difference to those who have humanitarian needs. I hope that you and your families experienced a happy, healthy and prosperous holiday season. I look forward to seeing you in 2009. mba appraisals market analysis aircraft . engines .
