The advanced two-pilot cockpit is derived from that of the B747-400, and new ultra large turbofans were developed by each of the three main engine manufacturers. The Boeing 777-200 has a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) ranging from 506,000 lb to 545,000 lb, seating between 305 and 328 in a three-class layout and up to 440 passengers in a high-density configuration. The aircraft has a design range of 5,210 nautical miles (nm) with 305 passengers. Power plant options include variants from the General Electric GE90 (eight aircraft), the Pratt & Whitney PW4000 (63 aircraft) and the Rolls-Royce Trent 800 engine series (16 aircraft). Entry into service (EIS) occurred in 1995 with initial deliveries to United Airlines with the last of the 88 aircraft produced and delivered to Japan Airlines in 2007. No aircraft were delivered in either 2002 or 2006. Current and Future Market Outlook Values and lease rates have suffered due to market perspectives that the B777-200 is an inferior aircraft to the successor B777200ER, a variant that was introduced seven years following initial EIS of the B777-200. The main opportunities for future deployment of the B777-200 are in Southeast Asia between moderately dense traffic city pairs and as a candidate for cargo conversion should Boeing launch its mooted B777-200BCF program. Most airline interest now lies with the B777-300ER or Airbus A330 variants, which offer superior range and payload performance and, in the light of these concerns, there is no current order backlog for the B777-200. Lease rates lie between $415,000 for mid-1990s vintage aircraft to around $650,000 for late-build aircraft but are now stagnating. SH&E believes that residual values and lease rates will continue their decline, even in the event of market recovery, with a growing differential in marketability between the B777-200 and -200ER variants.
