Jetrader - March/April 2009 - (Page 25) ISTAT foundation Stephen Rimmer, Chairman ISTAT Foundation As I write this letter, the last of my tenure (how quickly two years go by), I am reminded of the generosity both in terms of time and resource that each of your ISTAT Foundation Board of Trustee Members and Committee Members commit each year to your Foundation. Thank you to all of my fellow Board & Committee members for their hard work during my tenure and encourage all of them to continue their good deeds. As of this writing, our focus is on the ISTAT Annual Conference. Last year’s conference set the bar very high in terms of fundraising. At our recent ISTAT Foundation Board Meeting, there was much discussion about fundraising in the challenging times that face our industry. There was a consensus amongst the Board that we should be practical and realistic in our fundraising activities and expectations (i.e. no silent auction or raffle this year), but there will still be plenty of opportunity to give. I know most of you are familiar with the Roundtable and its benefits—in return for a minimum $10,000 donation to the Foundation you will receive recognition during the Gala Dinner at the Annual Meeting, a plaque commemorating your donation and an invitation to a members-only cocktail party prior to the Gala Dinner. The attraction of the cocktail party is that you will be able to meet a number of past scholarship recipients and hear how your hard-earned dollars are helping those of need come into our industry and also to meet the current ISTAT honoree. All roundtable donations go directly to the Foundation and provide funding for scholarships and grants, as well as our new humanitarian program. Through the generous support of Jet Trading & Leasing the conference agenda will again offer participation in a poker tournament on Saturday, March 14. All rev- enue generated from this Tournament is being donated to the Foundation so come along and have a fun evening and support the Foundation. This annual golf tournament will be held on the Sunday, Marcy 15. Proceeds will be donated to the Foundation, and you will have the opportunity to purchase competition token books to enhance your enjoyment. Last but not least I look forward to the conference as it brings the opportunity to introduce to you the new Humanitarian Relief Project which received approval at our recent Board Meeting to proceed into its second evaluation stage. The program provisionally dubbed “ISTAT 911” will leverage the skills and resources of our membership with the intent of matching the needs of the charity and non-government relief organizations around the globe.
