REFLECTIONS ON THE ’08 CONFERENCE BY ISTAT PAST PRESIDENTS “Having attended every ISTAT conference since 1985 and chaired many of early conferences, it is gratifying to see how far the Society has come in producing the preeminent annual event in our industry. While recent conferences may lack the intimacy of our earlier gatherings, this is more than overcome by the high production values and quality of the registrants. Many thanks to the ISTAT Board, and I look forward to future conferences.” – Steve Fortune, Q Aviation, LP “As a Charter member of the organization I have been attending the conferences now for 25 years. Over the last 8-10 years the conference has taken on a decidedly different feel to it as the size has gotten substantially larger. It no longer is a small intimate group of colleagues meeting to network and exchange views; rather it is now an internationally recognized forum that is not-to-be-missed for any serious player in the industry. A forum where speaker’s words have lasting impressions and ramiﬁcations on the industry. For the past few years as I left the conference I have said to myself ‘it will be hard to top this next year,’ yet each year it gets continually better. Kudos to those now steering this ever growing ship.” – Jim McMillen, McMillen & Company “The growth of ISTAT during the last 10-12 years has been remarkable. The membership has grown from 750 to 1,500, and attendees at the U.S. conference have increased from 550 to 1,100 and has become a must-attend event for the aviation community. The board of directors work on the conference agenda together, and they know the current topics and the best speakers to give presentations on the respective subjects. Invaluable contacts are made, business meetings are arranged, business deals are discussed, and many are concluded during the conference. The International Appraisers’ Program is one of the cornerstones of ISTAT, and ISTAT-certiﬁed appraisers are recognized as the best in the Industry. The ISTAT Foundation has achieved an outstanding status with contributions for student scholarships and for humanitarian assistance. This year´s Conference was well organized and presentations were very informative.
