Market Outlook

Market Values have decreased (five to six percent) in Q1 2011 while lease rates for this airMiddle East craft type have increased slightly, 11% reflecting a strengthening lease market. two months. The strongest growth markets are in the intra-Asian routes. GECAS ordered 12 in January 2011; Iberia has ordered to replace A340s. There is commonality with other popular long-haul, twin-engine family member—A330-200, as well as system similarity with the A340s and high flexibility. Airbus has planned a production rate increase to ten per month over the next two years. Currently it is outselling the competing 777-200ER, which has few additional orders. We expect the A330-300 to continue to be a major player in the long-haul market for the next 10 to 15 years, notwithstanding the eventual introduction of the newer technology 787-9 and A350900, both of which are targeted at longer-range markets but may eventually start to impinge on the A330-300 market. We expect the A350 to eventually replace the A330 on the production line late in the decade. A freighter conversion program is expected to be launched by EADS-EFW soon, as it could make a good longer-term, higher volume replacement for the A300-600. Low weight and early aircraft will have more restricted remarketability; freight conversions for medium-haul routes are a likely option.
