Tel: 703-963-7028 tomeburke@aol.com Background The ATR 42-500 has two Pratt and Whitney PW127E engines with Hamilton Standard 568F six-blade propeller and is one of the quietest turboprops in its class. The name ATR 42 comes from the seating capacity (40-50). A total of 113 ATR42-500 aircraft have been delivered, of which 103 are still active, with three of those parked, leaving 100 in service. The 42-500 and the 72-500 have much commonality, making them very effective ﬂeet partners for operators who have shorter or thinner segments and don’t need the capacity of the 72-500. They share the same fuselage cross section, use the same basic systems and are outﬁtted with a common cockpit that allows cross-crew qualiﬁcation.
