The first-ever ISTAT Chalet proves a huge hit for members, guests
The inaugural ISTAT Airshow Chalet provided an opportunity for hundreds of ISTAT members and guests to gather for business meetings, refreshments, casual interaction and, yes, watch airplanes, in the comfortable indoor and outdoor space of the chalet building. Located in the heart of the chalet rows, with a premier view of the runway, ﬂight displays and parked aircraft, the ISTAT Airshow Chalet was a nexus of activity, as members lingered in the chalet for a series of meetings or passed through the friendly, familiar conﬁnes of the chalet between business meetings elsewhere at the show. “The ISTAT Chalet was a perfect venue for me to meet with clients and prospective clients,” commented ISTAT Member Bob Agnew of MBA. “Not only was the chalet comfortable and welllocated for work, but the staff from Ron Pietrzak on down made my clients comfortable and at home, which was a great help for successful business discussions.”

A big “thumbs up” for the ISTAT Chalet and the air show from the future of aviation on “Family Day.”

In addition its primary role as a meeting place for ISTAT members and guests, on Friday and Saturday the ISTAT Chalet was open to children and family members of ISTAT members. On these two days, scores of children were able to experience at close range the thrill of aviation, planting the seeds for the potential ISTAT members of tomorrow. The success of the ISTAT Chalet was a result of the hard work of numerous individuals, including ISTAT Executive Director Ron Pietrzak and ISTAT Director and Chalet Committee Chairman Douglas Runte. “It was great to see the success of this inaugural effort—the chalet itself ran ﬂ awlessly and the member response was uniformly positive,” commented Runte. “It was a particular thrill to see the faces of the young children at the rail of the chalet deck on the public days as they watched the aerial displays and, perhaps, imagined a future in aviation,” he added.
