Dear fellow ISTAT members, Wow! After returning from Munich and ISTAT’s 17th European Conference, I need some rest! I’m pleased to report that we had a record turnout of more than 575 registered delegates (up from 432 last year). This jump of more than 30 percent caught us a bit by surprise and threatened to cause some problems since the hotel listed its capacity at 500 for the meeting space. I want to thank the proactive and highly professional response of Ron Pietrzak, Cynthia Cortis and the entire ISTAT team. They again managed to keep the inevitable glitches from being noticed by the delegates. The presentations and panels were spot on. They were so relevant that this may be the most talked about conference to date with wide press coverage of the topics discussed and statements made at the conference. A thank you also goes to the conference committee, co-chaired by ISTAT Board Members Peter Huijbers, Marc Pearman-Wright and Mike Skinner for pulling together a memorable event. Please plan to join us next autumn for the ISTAT 18th European Conference at the Hotel Arts in Barcelona. Though this hotel is larger and will more easily accommodate us, even with signiﬁcant growth, I strongly recommend booking early. The date of the conference will be a bit earlier, from 18-20 September, so you’ll want to book before you break for your summer holidays. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you all in Scottsdale, Arizona, for the ISTAT 28th Annual Conference at the Westin Kierland Resort, 13-15 March 2011.
