LOGA Industry Report - Fall 2008 - (Page 30) 2 by Ben Broussard nd LAGCOE Annual Open Golf Tournament LAGCOE Open becomes an annual event for LOGA LAGCOE – It comes every two years. Taking into consideration the Katrina-induced cancellation of the 2005 show, it sometimes comes every four years. Whenever it does come, so do the crowds of industry professionals and technology buffs. Most come looking for the newest innovations in oilfield technology; others come looking to see just how big the booths can get. Needless to say, LAGCOE is a very popular event and an industry staple in South Louisiana. The open was held at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette and boasted two tee times and more than 250 golfers. Both flights filled up months before the tournament date, and many companies came forward as sponsors and providers. The inaugural tournament was such a success that LAGCOE & LOGA decided to do it every year and not just on show years. Questions arose as to whether or not the off-year tournament would draw the interest that the show year tournament did. These questions were quickly answered when the flood of golfers and sponsors arrived; the 2nd Annual LAGCOE Open maxed out all golfer spots and 90 percent of available sponsor spots by June 11 – a full two months before the first golf ball could be teed up. Some would say that bringing clients and colleagues to such a pristine and challenging private club like Oakbourne is a big draw; others would say that networking with such a diverse group of professionals under the LAGCOE/LOGA banner is time well spent. But it’s for sure that the LAGCOE Open Golf Tournament presented by LOGA is now a yearly networking event that industry golfers look forward to. 30 | LOGA INDUSTRY REPORT | FALL 2008
