The strong partnership between SaskEnergy and the Residential Network ensures Saskatchewan will continue to set the precedent for energy efficiency initiatives. To date, close to 60,000 customers have benefited from energy efficiency programs with the numbers continuing to grow each and everyday. Congratulations to MCAS and all of our SaskEnergy Network Members on 10 years of outstanding achievement. We look forward to the future and your continued participation in creating energy efficiency solutions for our mutual customers. MCAS/COMMERCIAL NETWORK MEMBERS REPORT The Mechanical Contractors of Saskatchewan and SaskEnergy established the SaskEnergy Commercial Network over two years ago and already the partnership has produced positive results for energy efficiency initiatives and Saskatchewan business owners. The Commercial Boiler program was introduced in 2006 to encourage the use of high-efficiency natural gas hydronic space-heating systems in commercial new construction and retrofits. As initially announced, the Commercial Boiler Program ended December 31st, 2007. The program was well received by the commercial sector with over 117 applications being approved with a total value of work of over $8.3 million. On average, each customer will receive an incentive of over $14,000 for a total commitment of $1.5 million. The cost for the program was shared by SaskEnergy and Natural Resources Canada. Incentives were based on the incremental price of natural gas near-condensing boilers or condensing boilers over the purchase price of a standard-efficiency boiler. As a result, property owners can afford to choose equipment that will maximize their energy and cost savings up to 30 per cent, plus reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the environment. Commercial Network Members continue to offer other services such as: • Commercial Equipment Leasing • Assistance in accessing federal programs and funding focused on energy efficiency • Education on industry and technology developments In 2008, the Commercial Dialogue Committee, SaskEnergy and the Network will continue to work on important energy efficiency solutions for Saskatchewan business owners. 30 Mechanical Contractors Associations of Alberta, B.C., Manitoba & Saskatchewan 2008 http://www.barobinson.com
