Whether it involves residential, commercial, industrial or institutional facts, figures and market trends, one group now provides one-stop shopping for pertinent information: the Construction Sector Council (CSC). Based in Ottawa, CSC is a national organization committed to the development of a highly-skilled workforce — one that will support the current and future needs of the construction industry in Canada. Created in 2001, and financed by both government and industry, CSC is a partnership between labour and business. Early partners included the National Construction Labour Relations Alliance, the Building and Construction Trades Department and its affiliates, and the Canadian Construction Association. Today, the CSC represents an even broader base of expertise. It is governed by a board of directors who speak for a variety of interests within the construction industry, both union and non-union. Board members are nominated by the construction sector they represent — currently more than 40 national and provincial construction organizations.
