Along with all the hype surrounding the hydrogen community, there are also critics who aren’t as quick to join the bandwagon. Some B.C. residents are upset that taxpayer money is being spent on mass bus transit prototypes, and they see quick rail and individual cars as better alternatives for testing. Furthermore, critics of the hydrogen option argue that consumers will more likely turn to ethanolpowered cars, hybrids, and plug-in electric hybrids, which are more commercially available and affordable at the moment but don’t deliver the same environmental benefits.
