Drew W. Ford recently earned his CCM designation and has assumed a leadership role as club manager at Old Sandwich Golf Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Marilyn P. Sams, CCM, general manager of New Bedford Yacht Club, recently was awarded admission to the CMAA Honor Society. Sams has been a CMAA member since 1992 and worked in the private club industry since 1987. Bryon Hammock, general manager of Rainier Golf and Country Club, has been appointed as his chapter’s 2008 president. He has served on the chapter board since 2004. He is the only private club industry representative on the South Seattle Community College’s Advisory Committee for its four-year hospitality degree. Hammock started in the business in 1985 as a busboy. Shawn Chappel has been promoted to clubhouse manager at The Mirabel Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. He has been executive chef and food and beverage director at the same club. Dale R. Pedevillano, CCM, has taken the position of general manager/chief operating officer of the Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee. He previously was general manager of Boca Bay Pass Club. ❚❘ Patricia Brown, CCM, with students from the University of Delaware CMAA Student Chapter. Patricia A. Brown, CCM, club manager at The Acorn Club in Philadelphia, was named Champion of Club Education for the University of Delaware’s Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management program. When the Club Managers Association of Southern California Board of Directors heard gifts for the age group from 13 to 16 years were a big need for the U.S.M.C. Toys for Tots, the idea was born to supply bicycles. Our drive was called “100 Bikes for 100 Tykes,” and was such a success that we not only presented the 100 mountain-style bikes to the Marines, but we also were able to present them with a check for $1,000.
