Club Management - January/February 2008 - (Page 9) Editor’s Note Goals and Assists • Cut food and beverage costs by keeping a closer eye on inventory. • Start a new program that gives employees a day off to volunteer with a charitable organization. • Set aside one hour a day to read something non-work related. • Dedicate one night a week to quality family time – make a pizza, watch a movie or go to the park. Taking Club Management to the next level is my goal for 2008. Based on the supportive feedback we’ve received thus far, that goal is certainly attainable. Here’s a sampling: I just received the new Club Management magazine, and I must say, it looks super! The articles look intriguing, the pictures are more vibrant, the subject matter seems more relevant, and I love the back page “Club Wrap.” Congratulations on an “ace” for the association! Christopher A Boettcher, CCM General Manager – Milwaukee Country Club I enjoyed reading the September/October issue of CM. The layout was very easy to follow, the articles an improvement over past issues. It seemed like the topics were more relevant to today’s management of clubs. … You struck a chord with me. I look forward to future issues. Danny DeBoer, CCM Richmond, Virginia Wel c o m e t o t h e C M A A fa m i ly. … The new publication is great with its new layout and content. H ave New Year’s resolutions become passé? Healthier eating? Exercising more? Maintaining a strong work / life balance? Being a better husband/wife/ parent? My resolution often involves an attempt to give up fried food and sweets, and I just never make it. This year, I’m thinking more in terms of goal setting, and I invite you to do the same. Let’s all set a specific, achievable goal and resolve to make it happen. Keep in mind that written goals are much more powerful than those we only fleetingly consider. What will your goal be this year? The possibilities are endless. I would like to compliment you and your staff on a fine publication with many topical and interesting articles about the day-to-day operation of a club. Congratulations. Rusty Glendinning Congratulations on the premier issue of Club Management. This is a very informative and timely presentation. I like the balance of worthwhile stories and new data. … This is a magazine I can proudly share with my members. It is truly a professional publication. G.
