Brow n, CCM, recently accepted the position ac of general m anager/ chief ch operating officer at Louisville Country Club L in Louisville, Kentucky. Brown, a 22-year memB ber b of CMAA and 2007 Honor Society inductee, was most recently the general manager of Evansville Country Club. He currently serves as president of the Ohio Valley Chapter. The Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, Massachusett s, appointed Richard G. Shultz, CCM, as the club’s new general manager/chief operating officer. Most recently, Shultz was general manager at the Concord Country Club for seven years and general manager at the Nashua Country Club in New Hampshire for four years. Shultz is president of the New England Club Managers Association (NECM A), New England Chapter of CMAA. ❚❘ Damien Ristaino of the Leapdogs helps kick off Mirasol’s fifth season. Money raised during the Marisol anniversary celebration was donated to Tee It Up for the Troops. Mirasol Members Tee It Up for the Troops Current military personnel, past soldiers and more than 500 members celebrated Mirasol’s fourth anniversary and honored the men and women of the armed forces. The kickoff of the Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, club’s fifth season started in spectacular fashion with a flag ceremony, complete with Coast Guard color guard, and a performance by the Leapdogs, a skydiving team comprised of volunteer active duty, reserve, former Marines and civilian military supporters. Several events followed, including a 60-team golf tournament, a tennis roundrobin and a 5k walk, culminating with a magnificent poolside cocktail party. The Esplanade pool was transformed into a dazzling and intimate setting for the party, which included music by William Penn House and flamenco guitarist Alex Fox, as well as a surprise performance of patriotic favorites by Palm Beach Gardens’ own Gators marching band. Almost $33,000 was raised over the course of the day, and the entire amount was donated to Tee It Up for the Troops. General Manager Matt Lambert said, “Living or working in such a magnificent place like Mirasol makes it very easy for us to take for granted that there are men and women of the United States armed forces who make daily sacrifices in order to protect our freedom. “It was an honor for the members at Mirasol to have the opportunity to show their support and pride for our troops.” Tee It Up for the Troops founder James “J.B.” Ball said, “To have this type of an event take place over Veterans Day weekend and have such a strong showing of patriotism at Mirasol is inspiring, to say the least.” EDITOR’S NOTE: In our November/ December issue, we featured a story on Tee It Up for the Troops and listed the National Day of Golf participating clubs.
