Club Management - September/October 2007 - (Page 11) President’s Message A New Resource for Our Evolving Profession As a profession, we’ve worked hard on defining the value of our roles as managers – and recently as leaders – of our clubs. And that has translated into the overall image of the profession and the association as perceived by ourselves and the public. CMAA is one of only a rare few professional associations to have an educational program so sought out and successful as to be offered in conjunction with prestigious universities and institutions across the United States and abroad. To date, more than 1,360 managers have earned the Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation by going through a rigorous curriculum set forth by the Club Management Institute. I believe it’s evident that CMAA has become essential to the success of the club manager, who has the opportunity to become as experienced, trained, savvy and committed as any professional can be. That’s why the timing of the debut of our new magazine seems impeccable. Club Management now reflects a higher level of sophistication in its editorial and advertising content, but it still needs you to be involved in its continued evolution. This is your magazine, and you are the ere’s your new magazine! It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the inaugural edition of the all-new, improved resource for our profession – CMAA’s Club Management magazine. In 1927, CMAA’s founders came together and formed our association with a grand vision for advancing the profession. Fittingly, the cover theme for this issue is “Through the Years,” and I can’t help but take a moment to reflect on the great strides we’ve made as club managers over the last 80 years. H reason it will be set apart from the growing competition. Please take full advantage of the new technology and share the magazine with others who also can benefit. For this issue, the editors have put together a number of timely topics on accounting and financial management, selecting wine for the holidays, finding seasonal staff, new point of sale technologies, and much more. Of course, don’t miss the feature article, “Through the Years.” I’m eager to hear your feedback. Enjoy! ❚❘ Sincerely, Linda K. Carroll, CCM CMAA President Club Management now reflects a higher level of sophistication in its editorial and advertising content, but it still needs you to be involved in its continued evolution.
