member pear l s By Alleicha Roman Take Advantage of Your A/V Partner’s Expertise Often event planners don’t realize that audio visual vendors are capable of much more than just providing equipment. There are companies out there with a great depth of experience and expertise, and such companies can be a wealth of knowledge in event planning and its associated processes. By establishing relationships with one’s account representative and project manager, the A/V vendor can better acquaint themselves with the event planner’s needs and apply their experience to the task more efficiently. Often, this will relieve the event planner of the need to worry over small details, which can be better seen to by an experienced A/V project manager. Another way to get more value from your A/V vendor is arranging for them to participate in site inspections. You will fi nd that your A/V vendor can offer creative solutions that might just exceed your expectations, such as boosting the sound quality in a room by making changes to the floor plan, or improving the projection quality of a screen by changing the lighting in a room. You can receive advice on how to better use your existing scenic elements or you may make last minute changes by choosing to add cycloramas or drapes from your AV vendor’s supply stock at a nominal cost. If you’ve got more than one event taking place in a single room, your A/V company may be able to show you how to incorporate the use of lighting and gobos to change the look and feel of a stage or the entire room, while keeping to your theme and staying within budget. Lighting is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to enhance your event.
