Meeting Professionals International 21st Annual Trade Show & Conference Wrap-Up Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, was a great day for connecting and collaborating with the 21st Annual MPINCC Trade Show attracting over 1,500 meeting professionals for its third year at Moscone West in San Francisco. This one-day event, considered one of the leading regional shows in the industry, delivered a wealth of information in the concurrent morning workshops from how to adapt and thrive in the new economy to legal issues to tech tools to make you more efficient to marketing through social networking. If you missed it, you can download the presentations via the Events List on the MPINCC Web site. Business was all abuzz on the show floor with an incredible line-up of industry suppliers from all over the country providing the latest developments in venues, products and services. Following the show, attendees continued to network and make business happen by enjoying a Mardi Gras cel18 | MPINCCperspective | VOL. 27, NO. 5 ebration sponsored by the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau. Innovative dishes and classic New Orleans fare were prepared with panache by SAVOR by SMG, The Moscone Center’s premier large-scale catering and event services company. Wine Country Destinations procured 11 of Northern California’s finest wineries to pour tastes of award-winning reds, whites and rosés. Eager networkers schmoozed over cocktail tables and relaxed on lounge furniture sponsored by CORT Event Furnishings, the company with fresh, innovative furniture solutions for events and meetings. Classic Party Rentals provided festive linens in Mardi Gras colors. Planners eagerly checked the prize board to see what they had won. Luckiest among the group were Pat Zollman, CMP, regional director, HelmsBriscoe, who won the $500 cash prize and Michele Sheridan, programs director/office manager, Harman Management Corporation, who won the Grand Prize Hawaii Trip. Early feedback indicates that, in spite of the current economic state, participants came to do business. Testimonial after testimonial document RFPs delivered onsite and the promise of new connections, new collaborations and new business. Congratulations to all on a successful show!
