Student Affairs Committee Sets Up Scholarship Fund By Michelle Thornton, Event Planner/Coordinator, Training and Organization Development Autodesk, Inc. Through a partnership and grant from MPI, MPINCC is happy to announce the new Student Affairs Committee. Co-chaired by Jody Brandes, CMP, from Genentech and Joey Nevin from AT&T Park, the goal of the committee is to increase awareness of MPI and our local chapter to hospitality majors at local universities through scholarships and educational “tutorials.” There are four branches (or liaisons) of the committee: student, faculty, scholarship and sponsorship. All branches will be working together to achieve the objective of awarding 20 student scholarships, which include a one-year membership to MPI and admission to two educational programs this spring. The committee started out in full swing by offering complimentary admission to the 21st Annual MPINCC Trade Show to student members who pre-registered as well as nonmember students. Before the trade show began, the students attended an orientation hosted by the committee on “How to Walk a Trade Show Floor” as well as “Networking 101” before being paired up with seasoned MPINCC members and sent off to experience the trade show firsthand. A future goal of the group is to host a “Backpacks to Briefcases” session where members of the committee aim to break down the uneasiness that comes along with moving from student to professional. Isn’t that something you wished was around when you were a new member? ● If you have any questions about the committee or want to help with the future success of our MPINCC Student Members, contact Jody at or Joey at A city for visionaries The venue for vision The Mission Bay Conference Center, located in San Francisco, offers dynamic and technologically advanced meeting space to welcome great minds from across the world and across the city.
