Team Building Activities in Winter Event planning doesn’t need to hibernate during the winter months. Northern California is the perfect locale to hold spectacular and fun team building events when the weather turns cold. Only a few hours away, the Sierra Nevada provides unique activities and beautiful scenery for every meeting professional. Here is just a brief list of activities available, all of which can be used as terrific ice breakers or to build teams, generate ideas, enhance problem-solving skills and re-energize groups. • Sleigh rides Teams receive a set of pictures taken at different spots and an instant camera. The object is to find the same places while on the sleigh tour and take pictures that resemble the ones given. • Snowshoeing This is a perfect activity for those who love the snow but do not ski or snowboard. Team members work their way through a maze of obstacles to complete a relay-style event. • Snowbiking The best option when you have different levels of skiing expertise. • Snowmobile adventures Groups wind through pine forests and are awestruck by the breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe. • Ice skating This activity is guaranteed to generate some laughs and possibly a few bruises. • Broomball Players hit a small ball around the ice with a stick called a “broom.” Players wear special rubber-soled shoes instead of skates, and the ice is prepared in such a way that it is smooth and dry to improve traction. • Dog sled tours The scenery is beautiful and the ride is exhilarating. At the end of an exciting (and probably exhausting) day outside, top off the evening with a warm fire and hot cider, and reflect on the fun the day brought. When Worker fell, he called for Help, but Confusion came instead. At last Help came, and Help knew what to do. In times of emergency, are your employees Help? Have the Red Cross train your employees where they work. Contact your local chapter. 16 | MPINCCperspective | VOL. 28, NO. 2 408984_FourPoints.indd 1 11/26/08 7:07:42 PM
