People, Planet, Profit Green n Meetings By Christine Gruber, CMP, Ontario Real Estate Association BEING “GREEN” IN our meetings and practices has become a norm of practice in the last few years in the events industry. We’ve partnered with hotels and suppliers to reduce waste by using electronic signage, reusing materials and of course, recycling everything we can. The question is, what is the next step in going green? How can our industry make that next step to having an almost zero waste event? Here are some suggestions to use for the next time you partner with a venue to reduce your carbon footprint even further. The Next Step of Bullfrog Power Bullfrog Power is 100% clean and renewable electricity, which comes from wind and low-impact hydro facilities. You don’t even need any special equipment or pay the electric bill to use their services. Bullfrog will work with the event planner to determine the amount of electricity being used by the business during their tenancy at the venue and then Bullfrog generators will inject that amount of green power onto the regional power grid for a nominal fee.
