During the plant’s 23 years in this location, employees of Lakeside Industries have maintained a vigilant eye on the facility. “If we see any signs of leakage, or notice any problems, we get right on them,” said plant foreman Jeff Halsey. The four-ton batch plant has seven feeders, six for virgin aggregates and one for recycled aggregate. It can use 12 to 13 percent RAP in its mixes, and reclaims all baghouse ﬁnes. Lakeside Industries upgraded its baghouse more than a decade ago, and converted its dryer to burn propane instead of diesel. The company paints the facility every four or ﬁve years, and has enhanced its entrance with an ornate Finalist: APAC-Southeast Inc., Dothan, Ala. The Dothan asphalt plant is a 10year old facility that has produced in excess of 400 tons of HMA per hour while meeting all state air test regulations.
