TOOLS FOR THE TRADE Caterpillar’s New Paver Excels in Wide Range of Demanding Applications Caterpillar’s new AP655D Asphalt Paver can be used for projects ranging from routine commercial jobs to demanding highway operations. Typical applications include highways, urban and rural streets, county roads, lane additions, industrial sites, overlays, airport runways, and other medium- to high-productionsized paving jobs. The AP655D features a Cat® C6.6 engine with ACERT® Technology that is U.S. EPA Tier 3 engine emission compliant. It offers dual swingout operating stations with tilting consoles and an Advisor Monitoring System with interactive interface that provides project planning calculators, start-up checklists, engine operating parameters and other features. The AP655D also offers exclusive Mobil-trac undercarriage or steel track undercarriage, high capacity cooling system, belt or hydraulic driven generator system and Caterpillar’s unique material handling system with independent auger and conveyor controls. Cutting It Close with Roadtec’s Cold Planer The RX-400 is a four-foot cold planer with a rear-mounted drum. It allows contractors to start the cut directly in front of curbs, fences, walls or other obstructions. This machine is designed for commercial work and completion of projects where a compact machine design is an advantage, such as work on shoulders and other narrow milling projects. The RX-400 features milling width of two, three, and four feet and a maximum cut depth of 12.5 inches.
