The National Black MBA Association® understands this, which is why it is making a push to meet the needs of aspiring entrepreneurs, start-ups and current business owners by launching the NBMBAA National Entrepreneurial Institute, to be held September 17th in Washington, D.C., as part of the 30th Annual NBMBAA Conference and Exposition. Wells Fargo is a founding sponsor of the NBMBAA Entrepreneurial Institute. Rather than load attendees’ brains with theory, the Entrepreneurial Institute will feature practical, realworld advice in the forms of workshops, panels and high-profile speakers who are entrepreneurs themselves. Attendees can choose between two tracks – aspiring entrepreneur or current entrepreneur – which promise to be both educational and fun. Check out some highlights below: • Innovation Whiteboard Challenge (Sept. 17, 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.): Just five minutes and a genius business plan or idea can win you $5,000. Gone are the days of conventional business plan competitions. For this activity, five people will have five minutes each to sell their business plans or idea to a panel of venture capitalists, academics and successful entrepreneurs – using only a whiteboard and marker. How good is your elevator pitch? Ready, set… go! • “Why Didn’t I Think of That?” (Sept. 19, 10:30 a.m. - Noon): Are you an infomercial junkie? Do you have a good idea, but don’t know how to act on it?
