formation and come up with very sound recommendations about how companies should overcome business obstacles. MBA: What were some of your team’s strengths? BW: In addition to our individual expertise, we were very effective in creating a high level of cohesiveness within the team, which made working through different ideas and perspectives much easier. We also implemented an ongoing 360-feedback system, which allowed team members to address any situation at the time and not wait until the project was over. MBA: Individually, were you nervous while presenting to the panel? BW: We had more than 10 MBA students in the audience cheering us on, which really provided much needed support. Once we started going through the presentation, the judges warmed up to our anal- ysis. They asked very challenging questions, which really illustrated their genuine interest for our overall recommendation. MBA: The NBMBAA’s focus continues to remain global. How important is the global focus of the competition? BW: We as future business leaders have to be able to handle business issues globally. Global cases also set an equal playing field for competing teams because there is limited information available. Thus, the quality of the analysis will depend primarily on presentation skills, creative due diligence and style. MBA: Now that you have competed, what are some of the lasting skills and thought processes you foresee taking into the workplace? BW: Improved skills in the areas of problem-solving techniques, project management and team collaboration. MBA: What are your thoughts about FAMU having another top win in next year’s NBMBAA Case Competition? BW: I would like to congratulate FAMU for their repeat win. I would like to hear their recommendation for my own learning. This is the fi rst time McCombs School of Business placed in the competition and we hope that we have started a positive trend… and become a repeat winner in the near future as well. MBA: Any closing remarks about the competition? BW: The Case Competition was a great learning experience and I am happy I had a chance to participate. I also had a chance to meet and network with many executives from Chrysler.
