COOPER, NBMBAA Westchester/Greater Connecticut Chapter member, received the 2008 Supplier of the Year Award from the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Cooper is the President and CEO of Picture That, LLC, a full-service cultural fi ne art consulting company established in 2002. The company was one of 16 regional suppliers honored with the award. Picture That’s mission is to help organizations promote cultural awareness and diversity through art. In addition to selling and leasing fine art, Picture That provides art advisory services, curates exhibitions and designs graphic art. Cooper received her bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University and her MBA from Columbia University. JEFFREY D. HATCHELL, president of NBMBAA’s San Francisco Bay Area chapter, received the 2008 Supplier of the Year Award from the Northern California Supplier Development Council. Hatchell, president and founder of J.D. Hatchell Enterprises, Inc., does business as Over the Top Coaching and Empower Management Solutions. The award honors the impact he has made in organizations including Pacific Gas & Electric Company, American Express and Wells Fargo Bank, as well as his community work with NBMBAA, 100 Black Men, World Conquerors Church, National Association of Hispanic MBAs and others. This is the second year Hatchell has received this award. He focuses on equipping mid-level managers as well as high potential individual contributors with leadership skills. Hatchell received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Howard University and his MBA Nova Southeastern University. TAMARA TURNER, NBMBAA Richmond Chapter member, has launched a new professional consulting business, T.R. Turner & Associates, Inc. Turner, who currently serves as director of operations for a major integrated health care delivery system, brings her experience in IT, internal controls and auditing to her new venture, which specializes in providing process improvement and project planning services to organizations to assist them in streamlining efficiencies and educating staff for long-term stability and better company performance. Primarily serving the Virginia and Washington, D.C. areas the T.R. Turner & Associates will also work with businesses nationally. Turner received her MBA from Old Dominion University. BENNETT, life member from NBMBAA’s Richmond Chapter, has completed the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Leadership Development Program. Bennett, the Richmond Chapter’s immediate past vice president of operations and an originator of the chapter’s Leaders of Tomorrow® program, was the only Richmond Field Office employee selected for the rigorous nine-month experiential, project-based training. As the result of a course-mandated community project he led, four African-American high school students residing in Petersburg, VA public housing and part of the Housing Choice Voucher/Section 8 program were awarded more than $165,000 in full scholarships. The students will attend Virginia State University and St. Paul's College, respectively. As a senior project manager for HUD, Bennett manages a multi-million-dollar portfolio of properties, as well as the agency’s Neighborhood Networks program for the state of Virginia. Bennett received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from U.S. Military Academy at West Point and spent 10 years in the Army. In the fall edition, the photo for this item appeared with the incorrect listing: ANISHA MORRELL-CHARLES, vice president of administration for the NBMBAA St. Louis Chapter, has been named special assistant to the chancellor of St. Louis Community College. Morrell-Charles currently serves as coordinator of recruitment and student support for STLCCMeramec. In her new position, she will assist Chancellor Zelema Harris in working with business and industry leaders, as well as educational agencies, to identify opportunities for the college to broaden the reach of its programs and services, especially in underserved markets.
