Fall 2008 This bill, which passed both the House and Senate with large majorities, protects drinking water system’s water rights which are being held for the future need of the public. It also is the fi rst legislation to recognize that private drinking water systems need to be on an equal footing with governmental systems when it comes to water rights. Patrick was unrelenting in his support of this legislation and worked closely with RWAU to see that the legislation met rural Utah’s needs. Patrick has been a consistent RWAU supporter of rural water systems in his committee assignments and his legislative work. We also had over thirty exhibitors with excellent displays and informational booths surrounding the main ballroom this year—a record for our Northern Conference. And, in addition to the Operator Certification Course, a class in Cross Connection was added to the water, wastewater and management training tracks. A hands-on training course covered everything from Fire Hydrants to Chlorinators and gave attendees a chance to work through some of the issues they had one on one. The BBQ was held outside on the Solstice courtyard at the Conference Center and featured the comedic talents of the improve group ComedySportz—an experience all its own!
