Association Executive - November/December 2007 - (Page 17) INSIDE NYSAE Congratulations New CAEs NYSAE members Dev Persaud, CAE, director of finance, National Student Nurses’ Association, and Marc Ian Tobias, CAE, vice president of operations, Americans for the Arts, were among the spring 2007 class of CAE recipients, joining the more than 3,400 industry leaders worldwide who have earned the highly-competitive mark of excellence. Less than five percent of association professionals receive the Certified Association Executive (CAE) accreditation. Since its creation in 1960, the CAE program has served to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance and designate those who demonstrate knowledge essential to the practice of association management. To earn the CAE credential, candidates must first submit an application satisfying professional experience and education requirements. Successful applicants must next pass a challenging examination on all aspects of association management. Only those individuals who achieve the designated examination score earn the CAE credential. Certification must be renewed every three years through additional studies and leadership activities. For more details about the CAE program and exam, contact Gregory L. Boroff, CFRE, CAE, chair of NYSAE’s CAE Career Enrichment Committee and senior vice president for external relations, Food Bank for New York City, 90 John Street, Suite 702, New York, NY 10038; 212-566-7855; gboroff@foodbanknyc.org. Teplitz showed NYSAE members how to make every day positive through a tool developed by John Diamond, MD, called continued on page 18 330229_ShowStore.indd 1 NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2007 AS SOC I A TI ON E X E C U TI V E 1:25:06 PM 17 7/27/07
