Visitors of the Art Deco design-inspired spa can sample culinary creations from Emeril’s Enlightened Eating, experience treatments in one of 16 rooms, most with views of the posh pool and relax like celebrities on a third floor spa sun deck overlooking the glittering Atlantic Ocean. The Saratoga Hotel in Saratoga Springs has unveiled its newly redesigned ballroom. The 6,300square-foot ballroom is part of the hotel’s recent, extensive $11 million transformation. The refurbished space features modern sconces that provide ambient lighting, retro chandeliers and a geometric-patterned carpet with warm shades of cream, chocolate and cool slate blue. High-tech touches include high-speed Internet access, wireless capabilities, and a new, state-ofthe-art audio system. United Spinal Association has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Milbank Foundation for Rehabilitation to support United Spinal’s Peer Mentor Program. The goal of the program is to pair individuals who have successfully adjusted to a spinal cord injury (SCI) with newly injured people to help them become effective self-managers and skilled problem solvers, all with the intent of improving their quality of life. Computer services and consulting firm (C) Systems, LLC, earned several awards for excellence in sales and customer service at the Advanced Solutions International 2007 iNNOVATIONS conference. Among the honors received were “AiSP (Authorized IMIS Solutions Provider) of the Year”—ASI’s most prestigious award, which recognizes superior customer service, outstanding sales results and expert product knowledge. In addition, the company received a “Chairman’s Circle” honor in recognition of its demonstrated excellence in selling, implementing, and supporting the iMIS solutions package. Additional honors included ASI’s “SQL AiSP of the Year” and “Fundraising AiSP of the Year,” an award (C) Systems also received in 2003. The Food Bank For New York City has acquired FoodChange, Inc. The transaction will enable the Food Bank to work more effectively to meet the needs of the more than two million New Yorkers who are struggling to put food on the table and to advance the two organizations mutual mission to end hunger. Through the provision of emergency food and education to its network of more than 1,000 member organizations, the Food Bank has singular access to low-income city residents. FoodChange programs promote access to nutritious food and government nutrition and income support programs. Working together the two organizations provide a unique opportunity to connect emergency food program participants with a continuum of services. The Food Bank’s expertise in research, policy and advocacy will steer these efforts to further their long-term goal of ensuring local and permanent access to affordable, nutritious food for all lowincome New Yorkers. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants was one of 19 associations honored with an Award of Excellence for its “Feed the Pig” program in the third round of judging for the 2007 Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards program, sponsored by ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership. Now in its 17th year, the AAA Awards recognize associations and industry partners that advance American society with innovative programs in education, skills training, standard setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community service.
