The site was “recycled” and transformed into a mall that the residents of the area could enjoy without having to travel outside the community. Throughout the construction process, Forest City officials say 77,000 tons of concrete were crushed on site and re-used for foundations, sidewalks, and structural support for the mall. Approximately 7,500 tons of aluminum, steel, iron, copper and other metals also were recycled. The Shoppes at White Oak Village are anchored by Target, JC Penny, Sam’s Club and Lowe’s. Other tenants include Longhorn Steakhouse, T.G.I. Friday’s, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Red Lobster. Knowledge and expertise gained during the construction of Stony Point Fashion Park and Short Pump Town Center were shared by the marketing specialist and operations team.
