Stay cozy and warm indoors no matter how chilly the wind blows. Gaze contentedly into the flames of a blazing fire. And relax knowing you’ve made the environmentally friendly, energy conscious choice. Natural gas appliances offer all of these amenities and each year companies work hard to make their products and our lives better. Six months ago, a proud Kristen Shepherd bought her first home. But shortly afterwards, the 28-year-old trade show manager had a rude awakening to the hazards of home ownership. “One morning, I found myself taking a cold shower,” said Shepherd. “One minute I had hot water, and the next minute I didn’t.” As Kristen soon learned, her home’s original tank-style water heater was out of commission. But she found out she was luckier than some whose old-style water heaters break. “My water heater was in the attic,” Shepherd said, “and the plumber told me I was fortunate that it didn’t flood my attic and create a huge mess in the ceiling, the walls and everywhere else.” Shepherd decided then and there that she wouldn’t take that chance again with a tankstyle water heater.
