I trust 2007 was a success and this year is being anticipated with even greater opportunities. I want to thank the PIHRA staff, volunteer leadership and membership for their unwavering dedication to our association. It was a challenging year as we searched for a new CEO while continuing to service the member needs and programs. I want to thank Maurine Dyer Stevens for bridging the leadership gap as interim executive director providing guidance for the staff in day-to-day activities. 2008 will be a year of transition for PIHRA. We are building new and closer partnerships and alliances with other HR-related associations, business leaders and service providers. Spear-heading these efforts will be our new CEO, Dr. Doyle Young. Dr. Young comes to us with a wealth of management experience in associations, private business, consulting and education. He has an entrepreneurial spirit with strengths in leadership development, strategic planning, and team building. I look forward to his leadership in working with the staff and volunteer PIHRA board of directors. His involvement will position PIHRA to be a greater asset to the HR profession and individual professionals. I have mapped out with Dr. Young these key initiatives: • Develop a senior executive advisory board for increased organizational adaptability and alliance building. • Provide greater commitment to improve member benefits through data-driven strategies, focus group engagement and visionary thinking. • Develop and implement a formal volunteer leadership training and succession planning program for member development and association continuity. • Strengthen our membership service culture around assessing and fulfilling member expectations. Each of these initiatives has the purpose of centering PIHRA’s focus on member value and professional development. PIHRA has an exciting future and we are honored that you will be a part of it. Thank you for your membership and trust that PIHRA will always offer the best and most relevant HR professional programs available in Southern California.
