Fiber, Technology and TAPPI Forms Tissue Converting Advances at Advisory Council TAPPI Tissue360° Forum TAPPI is dedicated to bringing
industry professionals working in the tissue sector the most relevant technical knowledge and professional growth opportunities. In late summer of 2012, TAPPI formed the Tissue Advisory Council. Operating under the guidance of TAPPI’s antitrust guidelines, the Council’s objective is to help guide TAPPI’s efforts in delivering relevant, in-depth technical information to the industry. The Council meets quarterly to provide input on TAPPI’s technical programs and courses, articles for Tissue360°, and technical information for TAPPI Standards, TIPs, or other technical papers. Council representatives include tissue manufacturers and suppliers—SCA, Kimberly-Clark, Ashland, Buckman, and Poyry are founding members.
The Tissue360° Forum, organized by TAPPI tissue experts in conjunction with Tissue360° magazine, will be held from April 29 through May 1, 2013, at PaperCon 2013 in Atlanta, Ga., USA. The forum will cover a wide range of tissue manufacturing and converting technologies and market trends. PaperCon 2013 is the pulp and paper industry’s largest technical conference and trade show. Tissue360° Forum topics will include an overview of hygienic product market drivers, fiber usage and supply, wet and dry end additives, latest hybrid tissue making technology, and runnability/operational tips. All material will be selected and peer reviewed by TAPPI members with tissue expertise. The program is open to all full PaperCon registrants. PaperCon brings together CEOs, mill managers, superintendents, scientists, process engineers, and suppliers for the largest pulp and paper technical program in the world. No other event provides such a comprehensive program, networking opportunities, and trade fair among such a distinguished group of industry leaders. Find out more at www.papercon2013.org.
2013 TAPPI Tissue Properties and Manufacturing Course
Scheduled for April 27-28, 2013, TAPPI’s Tissue Properties and Manufacturing Course will be offered at PaperCon 2013 in Atlanta, Ga., USA. This course is designed for those who desire an intermediate level, comprehensive, and structured course on tissue properties, and the effect of manufacturing processes on them. Participants will learn: • Tissue properties and tests and how these relate to sheet structure • Performance effects of fiber raw materials, pulp mill, and recycling operations • Stock prep refining for tissue • Chemicals for tissue: wet end chemicals (adhesives, debonders, retention, deposit control) and yankee coating chemicals • Tissue machine wet end operations and effects on sheet structure and properties, multilayer headboxes, formation, fiber orientation, dewatering, and fabrics for sheet forming and sheet structure • TAD and yankee drying and effects on properties • Forming, TAD, and wet press fabrics for obtaining desired sheet structure • Creping • Calendering and converting
