Allen McDaniel Co-Chair On June 21, 2008, at the Stanford University Faculty Club, the 35th Annual Reunion Banquet was held to present the 2008 H.B. McDaniel Foundation awards. Professor Henry Bonner McDaniel of Stanford University, the father of school counseling g optimize their personal development as unique, responsible, competent, and respected individuals. The H.B. McDaniel Foundation awards recognize a counseling school group and an individual winner each year. This year’s group winner was the Valley High School Counseling Staff from Elk Grove Unified Sch District, recognized for hool the leadership in advocacy and eir acc countability, diversity training, an services to students and faculty. nd Th The 2008 individual award was pr resented to George Montgomery, C ASC past president and H.B. M McDaniel co-chair, for dedicated le eadership in school counseling – a advocacy, program development, a and service. Congratulations to the these outstanding counselors who serve as models for counseling throughout California. In addition the H.B. McDaniel Hall of Fame recognizes professionals who continue the “spirit” of H.B. McDaniel through helping others “become increasingly self-directive and capable of creative and purposeful living.” Inductees to the Hall of Fame were Dr. Bob Chope, author, career counselor, advocate, and professor at San Francisco State University and Sharon Bowles, retired Oakland school counselor, and guidance in California, inspired professionals to identify and develop programs and services that would assist people to past CACD president, and American Counseling Association Western Region chair. Congratulations to Bob and Sharon who have given so many years of leadership and service. The evening was concluded with an excellent presentation on counseling sexual offenders by Dr. Stewart Nixon, former student of H.B.
