From Jason Womack Company www.jasonwomack.com Think of all of the tasks you do everyday that have multiple steps – routine stuff like checking voice mail, using your computer and meeting with people. What if you eliminated just one extra step in one of those tasks? It doesn’t sound like much at first, but two things happen: 1. You’ll streamline routine behaviors and save little bits of time that start to add up, so you can have more time for the things you’d like to do. 2. It’s addicting. Once you start looking for the unnecessary actions, you’ll notice even more! I recommend starting with one, so you get the reward of noticing how gratifying it is not doing that one thing anymore. It’s easy to do with a little effort that has a big payoff everyday. Here are a few that I’ve helped clients around the world notice: • Get your cell phone to auto-enter your password, so when you dial “Voice Mail” it automatically plays your messages. • Add people’s phone and e-mail info to your address books as you receive their information. (Your cell phone probably has an “Add To Address Book” as a feature, and in Outlook E-mail, you just drag the e-mail message to the address book to make a new contact.) • Learn the speed key to send an e-mail without clicking the SEND button (in Outlook it’s Control + Enter). • Set up auto-launch for the programs you use everyday. I have Outlook, Firefox, and Skype open automatically every time I reboot my computer. • When you promise to do something for someone, write it down, Text, E-mail or Jott (http://jott.com) yourself right then and there! Don’t wait until later and hope you remember. Good luck with these ideas! ■ Mainspring CMS Clearing the path to a powerful web presence.
