Cheri’s dynamic and engaging approach has empowered a myriad of schools, organizations and communities to successfully overcome crisis events. And in the years since the tragedy of September 11th, 2001, Cheri Lovre has applied her expertise in a number of school districts in New York and New Jersey, helping September 11th’s smallest survivors. Cheri Lovre’s formative work began in the 1970s, responding to the needs of youth grappling with grief and trauma. In the early 1980s, she worked as a Behavioral Specialist with the Marion Education Services District (Salem, Oregon), operating closely with parents, teachers, counselors and administrators in the areas of crisis response and trauma. It was during this time that Cheri Lovre pioneered the unified team approach to crisis response within the school setting. This concept garnered a rapid groundswell of widespread acceptance. By the early 1990s, broad-based demand for her authoritative method of crisis response compelled Cheri Lovre to devote herself to writing and publishing crisis response manuals, in addition to providing on-site technical expertise during crisis situations. Cheri Lovre’s expertise has placed her in high demand as a keynote speaker for statewide and national events. She has served on the Oregon Attorney General’s Coalition for Violence Prevention and Safe Schools, and serves on the Advisory Board for Oregon Abuse Survivors and Advocates. Her services have been provided to urban and rural school districts, communities, state and national professional organizations, emergency services personnel, and corporations.
