Allen By Jackie M. Allen, Ed.D. Editor Fall Brings Change Summer has melted into fall and by the time you receive this newsmagazine you will be thinking of Th anksgiving. Fall is a wonderful time, my favorite season of the year. Not only are the colors of the season so brilliant—the burnt oranges, the fl aming reds, the earthy browns, and the lively greens, the feeling of renewal and enthusiasm is in the air with the initial months of a new school year. One senses a renewal of energies: starting new programs dreamed about and planned for in the summer, revising old worn out guidance curriculum and activities, beginning new collaborations, and forging new partnerships. My cooking always improves in the fall as I begin to concentrate on soups and stews combining the fresh herbs from the garden with potatoes, pastas, rice, and meats with those wonderful fall squashes, rutabagas, pumpkins, parsnips, cauliflower, celery, carrots, broccoli, beets, and chard. A garden medley of flowers, herbs, and vegetables all reflect the earthy tones, earthy smells, and delicious fl avors of the fall season. What new fl avor or dish have you begun this fall—a program, service, research or technology project? CASC would love to hear about your new venture. Please do not be shy or too humble to share your experiences—successes and even failures. We all learn from each other. Of particular interest are AB 1802 (MHSSCP) accountability programs, the use of research to improve your school counseling program, new hints for the use of technology to make your life easier, new themes for guidance lessons, a good book you want to share with your colleagues, a new counseling method, an appreciation for someone that has been a great help to you in your counseling career. E-mail me at jackiemallen@roadrunner.com. Enjoy your fall and holiday season. May you be blessed now and in the coming year. New Section Starts in Spring 2008 Starting with the spring edition of The California School Counselor, there will be a new section for you to share your ideas, ask for assistance, and communicate your thoughts and concerns to the editor.
