Healthy tips while traveling

Always drink plenty of water. I recommend traveling with a filtered water bottle. You can bring an empty one through security and fill up at a water fountain once you are through. You have a refreshing, calorie-free drink and the best part, it’s free!

Take time out of your day to stretch, even if it is only for a couple minutes. When traveling, you often experience a different level of comfort with your sleep accommodations and do a lot of sitting in uncomfortable airplane/train/bus/car seats and conference rooms. Stretching reduces muscle stiffness, improves coordination, stimulates circulation and increases your level of energy. Stretching can easily be done in your hotel room, so no need to pay an expensive fitness room fee.

Pack some small, low-calorie, nonperishable snacks. Sometimes when traveling you encounter different time zones which can confuse your appetite. Grabbing a snack to hold you over until dinner-- which may be later than your normal meal time-- is a great, low priced, and healthy way to get your stomach on track with the new time zone and it keeps your metabolism under control.
