By Rob Bergeron, CGMP Acting Executive Director I must admit that I am not one who necessarily slows down to be introspective as often as I should. To me, full speed ahead on the next great thing is much more my comfort zone. But Rob Coffman makes and excellent point and extends a wonderful suggestion in his President’s Letter. So I am going to take him up on that idea of reflection and appreciation. I have been leaning on a lean staff for the latter half of 2012. Every day. Every project. Every goal. Never before in my professional career has the need to do the right things been so important. Yet it feels to me that production is steady. And it appears to me that accomplishments are continuing. Neither of these things could be true without the dedication for and investment in this Society that I see on a consistent basis from your headquarters staff team. I try to take the time to thank them personally. I think I do (I hope I do!). So let me now pause for a moment, step back, and publicly acknowledge their work. “THANK YOU!!!” I am so proud to be associated with this group of association professionals. And I truly believe that we ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Our 30th annual National Education Conference in New Orleans was a fantastic event, start to finish. I couldn’t begin to list all the people in Louisiana and across the country made that happen for us (but you know who you are). You are the volunteers who deserved our heartfelt appreciation. You are the leaders who deserved praise from atop the highest hill this summer. But I do not believe we did all we could have (and should have) on that front. So here it is… “THANK YOU!!!” Safe travels to all during the holiday season. And here is to SGMP’s 2013 and it being our best year yet.
